You are here: Christian Doctrine Seeking God "WHERE IS YOUR TREASURE?

E-mail Print PDF

You may answer that you treasure your wife, or husband, and your family, and of course we do greatly value loved ones, but there is a treasure far above these.

The Bible says that "where our treasure is, there will your heart be also." Luke 12 v. 34

No, don’t immediately throw this away because you see I have quoted from the Bible. It could be the very means, if God permit, of you being brought out of darkness into His marvellous light. It could be the means of you being saved for all eternity.

It is where our heart is that matters. Our hearts can be occupied with getting things, and accumulating things, so they become a god.

We can easily so want to keep up with the Jones or the Smiths, or our garden can become a god, if we want to keep it looking pristine, so that it is better than others. We can become designer friendly in clothes, just wanting to look well, and spending much on them. We can become over zealous in our appearance, always wanting to appear better than others. We can make Sports a god. All these things are just worldly and will soon pass away.

The Bible says “Lay NOT up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal, but lay up for yourselves TREASURES IN HEAVEN where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt and where thieves do not break through nor steal, for where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.” Matthew 6 v. 19-21

But where is your treasure? The greatest treasure one can have is the Lord Jesus Christ, who is God, very God, and there is no one like Him, for He is the Lord of glory and created the Universe and all that there is therein. He created you and me! He is the only way to Heaven, and to the believer, there is no treasure like Him! Words cannot describe his Beauty. He is so Precious.

He alone is the treasure of greatest price. He is the Pearl of greatest price. He alone is worthy to be praised. For He suffered and bled and died for the sins of His people on the Cross at Calvary. He took the punishment on His body which we rightly deserved, for those who would truly believe.

You might say, well how can I find this treasure if He is so precious?

That would be a good sign, for it shows you are wanting to know more. The Lord Jesus Christ is the ONLY way to Heaven, the only truth and the life. He can make you seek after Him, and you will find Him. He will bring you to repentance for all your sin, for we are all sinners from the fall of Adam, and we need His forgiveness. He died for His people. He bore the punishment that was due to those who believe. He can be found in the pages of the King James Version Bible, where He met me years ago. He made the pages of the Bible come alive by the Holy Spirit. "For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of His good pleasure." Philippians 2 v. 13

May you find this precious treasure in Christ, for there is nothing like it on earth. You will then be saved from the wrath to come.
