The Government, on the instruction of Lynne Featherstone MP (Liberal Democrat Equalities Minister), is fighting a case at the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) against two Christians, who were dismissed by their employers because they refused to remove their cross pendants. The Government argues that because the crosses are not a 'requirement of the Christian faith', that Christians do not have the right to wear them. (Minister in legal battle to STOP Christians being able to wear a cross at work - Daily Mail)
It is indeed true that the wearing of a cross is not a requirement of Christianity, but are these same ministers aware that the hijab is not specifically commanded in the Qu'ran? Thus, as the hijab is not a 'requirement' of Mohammedanism, will they also argue that Muslim women can be sacked if their employers do not wish for them to wear the hijab? *
Of course, the answer is that the government will not dare to do anything that may infringe the 'rights' of Muslims. Our government is made up largely of cowardly tin pot tyrants, with Cameron at the helm; who like nothing better than to pick fights with Christians at every opportunity, whilst pandering to idolaters and the fools who hath said in their hearts that there is no God (Psalm 14:1).
The LORD judges and condemns them for turning their backs on the Christian heritage of this once great nation; and whilst they step up their efforts in oppressing Christians, removing the last vestiges of Godliness left in this nation in favour of rank humanism, God will likewise magnify His judgment against them. The nation must repent and return to Godliness, or all of our present problems will pale into insignificance compared with what will undoubtedly come.
20 Shall the throne of iniquity have fellowship with thee, which frameth mischief by a law?
21 They gather themselves together against the soul of the righteous, and condemn the innocent blood.
22 But the LORD is my defence; and my God is the rock of my refuge.
23 And he shall bring upon them their own iniquity, and shall cut them off in their own wickedness; yea, the LORD our God shall cut them off.
(Psalm 94, verses 20 to 23)
* The matter of the concessions made for Muslim dress is of particular concern where medical hygiene is concerned. The NHS, for good reason, has a rule that clothing must not be worn below the elbow, in order to guard against the spread of infections such as MRSA. Yet, Muslims are exempt from this rule (Muslim staff escape NHS hygiene rule - Telegraph - 11 Apr 2010)! There is literally one rule for Muslims, and another for everybody else, with Muslim demands being put above the concern for patient welfare and medical hygiene!
For the avoidance of doubt, I believe that Muslims should be allowed to wear simple head coverings (though certainly not the full face coverings, which are an obvious security risk). Yet, where the spread of disease is concerned, it of course makes sense to ban clothing below the elbow.
