Blog post: The Current Situation (December 2021)

Despite all the chaos in this world, we still need this verse to live and resign in our hearts and minds:

Philippians 4:8 (KJAV)

“Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.”

The media can come at you from all different sources; tv, emails, radio, billboards, social media platforms, word of mouth and so much more. Although the news can be consuming and frankly terrifying at times, we must continue to put our trust in God’s word and try to live our lives as normally as possible. Pleasing, serving and Glorifying God daily in our lives.

God’s will and prophecy will come to pass either way. Be not conformed to this world by worry and remember that Jesus Christ has overcome the world and through His victory we will reside with Him forever, through the gift of Salvation for the elect who are called according to His purpose.

So, here’s some of my own thoughts to share, hopefully to help anyone who might need to hear them - those who know the Lord are somewhat in the same boat!

My Thoughts:

What is happening in the world right now is scary, it can be consuming and crippling to the thoughts. However, one thing I am practicing is the very thing I’ve been working on all my life and always will - My Faith and Trust in God.

All our lives we have been reading our Bibles, striving to serve God, to witness to our Faith, Trusting with good courage in ourselves and to help others to be the same. But, now here is the real TEST; the TEST of Faith. The exam, if you like, that you’ve all been waiting for.

Trust me, I know, that for some, Covid is one of many woes in life they are having to deal with. I understand, but reverting back to one thing in particular that is being force-fed down our throats daily, need I say it? But, I will – COVID. Are you ready for your exam?

I suppose in my mind right now an exam comes to my mind because I’m a ‘mature’ student myself and when practicing the complexities of Law, you NEED to study. If I don’t study, I don’t understand what I have before me today, I won’t be able to understand the next batch of material I need to read tomorrow. It’s all connected, you can’t miss bits out or skip pages. Then I am faced with assignments, essays, tests and exams.

Family, friends and students ask me questions about the law. I WANT to know the answers and be ready, equipped to help or give guidance, experience. In all honesty, I don’t know all the answers and even when I finish my degree, I’ll still be learning and will still make mistakes, as the law is ever changing.

So, if I look at all this – talking about my thoughts and connecting them to my example of preparing for an exam, how should I prepare or work for this exam – “DO YOU REALLY BELIEVE AND HAVE FAITH IN GOD?”

Well, first of all the basics. Unlike the modern law made by man, God and His Laws are perfect, just, righteous, forever the same. They don’t change. They are set in stone. They are the words of God, given to us to read, live by, and achieve the Lord’s Will, which He has for us.

Each believer’s life could be used for different works, which the Lord ordained in them to do before time, but inevitably we all strive at times along the way. All Praise and Glory to God. Serving Him, Keeping His Commandments and Pleasing Him. Believing all He says and committing our lives, honestly and willingly to Him. Not just in obedience, but in complete love towards Him. He is to be adored.

No matter what happens to you, or me, The Lord’s hand will guide us and give us wisdom IF we are living righteously – keeping his word and Commandments – Pleasing him.

We might make mistakes along the way, but we get right back up and straighten our Armour which the Lord gives us and carry on striving till we go home and remain forever in Christ our Lord.

I could also write many other lovely things which the Lord has promised us and which delight my soul, but I hope you already know those treasures of His promises, through your fruitful experiences in life with God, or even from lessons learned when you experienced the love and full compassion of God, which we showers on us.

Lamentations 3:22-23

“22 It is of the LORD's mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not.
23 They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.”

I will only mention two more things which I think will help you in this exam.

  1. Once, saved always saved. Once you are the Lords, you are always the Lords. No matter what happens. You will reside in Him (Christ) with the Father forever.
  2. This verse:

Psalm 28:7

“The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in him, and I am helped: therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth; and with my song will I praise him.”

I have seen similar words in different verses of the Bible.

The Benefits Of Fixing Your Heart On The Lord:

  • When your heart if fixed on the Lord you are helped.
  • When your heart is fixed on the Lord you are at peace.
  • When your heart is fixed on the Lord even your enemies will be at peace with you.
  • When your heart is fixed on the Lord you greatly rejoice.
  • When your heart is fixed on the Lord you will not fear.
  • When your heart is fixed on the Lord you will be protected.
  • When your heart is fixed on the Lord you will receive mercy and blessings and many more spiritual gifts.

Funnily enough while I write this ad hoc email, I connect all above together in bold below:

“You are helped, at peace, enemies will be at peace with you, you greatly rejoice, you will not fear, you will be protected, you will receive mercy and blessing and many more spiritual gifts.”
How wonderful and precious is our God!

His compassion and love for us is endless.

I’m sure throughout this email you came up with things you thought could be added which you know could help you pass this exam in life – surviving the control, lack of freedoms, manipulation, lies and deceit and other prophecied woes to come. Think upon those good and righteous things. Use them and live by them – Phillipians 4:8 above.

We have the ingredients to get through the storms we are in now and anymore that are to come.

Carry on reading your Bible, carry on Praising and Glorifying God – He is the light in the darkness (This can be read in Barry’s bible study on Psalms 111 to 112)

If you’re not doing any of these things or what you feel the Lord is telling you to do, don’t be surprised if you are submitted to fear and feel completely out of control - I’ve been there and know the feeling. I know when I’ve let my emotions get the best of me. Best thing to do is nip it in the bud and go back to basics. Your foundation = God.

With him you will pass the exam and live on this earth until we reach Heaven and abide with the Glorious and Almighty Lord forever.

Colossians 3:2

“Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.”

With Him is the ONLY way forward.

Luke 1:37

“For with God nothing shall be impossible.”

God has given us His word so we can be prepared and ready. Yes, it will be testing; Yes, we might fall, but we get back up, knowing that in doing so, we Glorify God and strive to be by his side always. We are enabled by His loving Grace and must never give up on putting in the effort, and love for His name and words to be known and live by.

I wasn’t planning to write anything today, but here we are. On days like this, thoughts come out like water from a tap, waiting to burst.

I hope this helps someone and is fruitful.

All Praise and Glory to God.

Believe, have Faith and Trust in Him Always and without sounding clichéd – Keep smiling and laughing, enjoy the little things and keep those who are dear and who you love, even closer to you.

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

“16 Rejoice evermore.
17 Pray without ceasing.
18 In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.”
