“Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost.”

People view this verse in the same way they view the account of God creating light BEFORE creating the sun (Genesis 1:3). They think it is a joke. No woman can get pregnant like this! The couple must have ‘played around’! Even some Christians stay silent about this text, because it sounds far-fetched. So much for their belief!!
BUT, the text is true. Mary was possibly about 14 when she was made pregnant by God. Those who think she ‘played around’ do not understand the strictness of espousal in those days. Mary would not have put her social status in danger this way!
The Holy Ghost said it, and so she was pregnant. As always, God moves as He wishes, and it is usually a move humans do not expect. Whilst others briefly thought she was lying about her virginity, the accusations were very brief and dealt with. No fake religion would invent a girl being made pregnant by God before she was married! But scripture is NOT fake, so it speaks the truth, odd though it might seem to mankind. Humans would have invented a far better story – a lovely girl married to a respectable builder after a period of espousal. Hunky Dory! Great story-line!
However, God did otherwise, and created a situation only He could have brought about. And from it came the Saviour, perfect in every way, giving salvation by His own blood, planned in eternity for the elect. Because it was in eternity, it could not fail and HAD to happen, just as it is recorded in Matthew. If you have doubts about it – repent and pray for faith, otherwise your beliefs will be eroded until you have none at all.
