Same Sex Marriage, the ultimate political folly and the consequences of breaking God’s Law

Are you completely ignorant of the horrific consequences of having a 'face-off' with God?

Do you not realise that your proposed legislation is blasphemy: publically insulting and showing gross contempt for God.

There are many instances in history where rulers have mocked, laughed and derided God:

• When Pharaoh stopped the Israelites from leaving Egypt he had his army, nation and people brought to ruin;
• Sodom and Gomorrah annihilated forever for their gross sin of sodomy;
• Sennacherib King of Assyria blasphemed God and had 185,000 men of his army drop dead in one night and shortly afterwards was killed by his own sons.
• The Jews rejected Jesus Christ as the Messiah and crucified Him - the nation was destroyed and the people scattered for thousands of years.
• Many others have been slain in an instant by God for disobedience and blaspheming His name.

Your audacity to rejoice in the advent of same sex marriage and enforce its acceptance on the people of Great Britain will have similar consequences for you personally and the people of this nation. No one gets away with blasphemy and sin.

The pathetic sop of saying the new legislation will protect religious marriage ceremonies, which we all know will be unenforceable, will not detract from the desire of your heart to make homosexuality acceptable and perceived as 'normal' in society. God will not be mocked.

Whilst there is still time:

• Abandon your plans to introduce same sex marriage;
• Take deliberate action to protect, support and encourage marriage and families;
• Remove legislation to allow homosexuals to use their perverse and unnatural behaviour as a protected characteristic to crush all opposition and rejection of their high risk sinful lifestyles.

Do not underestimate the opposition to the proposed same sex marriage legislation. You are legislating against what it means to be a man and a woman, male and female. You are denying your own existence. Is that not the ultimate political folly?

Dear Dr Waddell,

Thank you for contacting Nick Clegg. I am replying on his behalf.

Thank you for making us aware of your views on the issue of same-sex marriage. Many people have contacted Nick about this issue, and we are quite aware of the strength of feeling on this matter. I would like to set out the Liberal Democrats' position on this issue.

One of the fundamental values for the Liberal Democrats is our firm belief in equality. We have always stood for individual liberty and the right to choose how we lead our lives. That's why we came into being in the 19th century to protect the rights of religious minorities, why we led the support for equality for women and why we decided before any other major party that civil marriage should be open to same-sex couples equally. At our Party Conference in September 2010, our members passed a motion calling for marriage to be opened up to same-sex couples and we are pleased that the Coalition Government is now delivering on this.

Liberal Democrats believe strongly in an individual's right to live their life as they see fit, with privacy and equality before the law, and without discrimination. This applies to a person's sexuality or gender identification in the same way as it does to their race, religion or beliefs.

The equal civil marriage consultation undertaken by the Home Office consulted on proposals to remove the ban on same-sex couples being able to have a marriage through a civil ceremony. There has obviously been much discussion in the press on the content of the consultation, and I would like to clarify that the Government will not force any religious organisation to conduct same-sex marriages if they do not wish to do so. Religious organisations have a vital role in our society and the Government is clear that we value the importance of religious freedom.

Nick has said that he would like the Liberal Democrats to honour what we have said on this issue. Equal marriage is both something that Nick believes in personally and that the party believes in collectively; that if you have two individuals who love each other and want to show a commitment to one another irrespective of their gender, they should be able, under law, to get married – and we should celebrate that.
