"Tesco has signed a deal to become a major sponsor of London Pride, the UK's largest gay festival, as it outlines plans to host its biggest ever event in the capital.
Tesco will also host a family area designed to provide families attending the event with a "safe, relaxed and chilled out" place with family-friendly entertainment and activities aimed at younger children.
The supermarket will also contribute to funding the free-to-attend event, which is organised by volunteers.
The news comes shortly after Tesco ended its 10-year partnership with Cancer Research’s Race for Life fundraising event." (Marketing Week, 24 October 2011)
It is an oxymoron that Tesco think supporting Gay pride events and providing a family friendly tent so that adults can celebrate high risk sexual activities and sterile relationships is something to do with supporting families.
No, it is a way of marketing and normalising children to GLBTQ values.
How does Tesco's brand association with behavioural activity and GLBTQ lobbying groups that are anti-family, anti-pro-creation by definition, and are completely in-tolerant of any reasoned criticism or objection, representing at the most 1.5% of the population depending on the daily preferences of the segment, build the customer relationship with 98.5% of their customer base?
Every Christian should write to Tesco to tell them that 'gays' are less than 1% of the population - And to ask them "In that case, why offend so many Christians who are many percent more of the population?"
Boycott Tesco
Barry and I will instruct our family, relatives and Church not to buy from Tesco until this sponsorship of Gay Pride events is withdrawn. Most families spend thousands of pounds every year at Tesco. If all Christians in the UK boycotted Tesco, until this sponsorship is revoked it could cause Andrew Higginson, CEO of retailing services at Tesco, to resign for causing such a spectacular customer relationship disaster that will cost them hundreds of millions of pounds in lost revenue and profit.
Christians have done it before in the USA with Wal-Mart, now it is Tesco's turn to feel the real power of the Christian consumer, remember "... every little helps" – BOYCOTT TESCO.
Write to Andrew Higginson, CEO of Tesco Retailing
Here is my letter of complaint to Andrew Higginson:
Dear Mr Higginson
I have been a Tesco customer for decades and we spend as a large family of adults over ten thousand pounds every year in your stores.
I was appalled to read that you have authorised the decision to support the London Gay Pride event this year instead of the Cancer Research for Life event.
It is an oxymoron that Tesco think supporting Gay pride events and providing a family friendly tent so that adults can celebrate high risk sexual activities and sterile relationships is something to do with supporting families.
No, it is a way of marketing and normalising children to GLBTQ values.
How does Tesco’s brand association with behavioural activity and GLBTQ lobbying groups that are anti-family, anti-pro-creation by definition, and are completely in-tolerant of any reasoned criticism or objection, representing at the most 1.5% of the population depending on the daily preferences of the segment, build the customer relationship with 98.5% of your customer base?
As a customer, I would ask that you urgently reconsider your position and withdraw your sponsorship of an event which is the antithesis of the ‘apparent’ brand values that Tesco presents to its customers.
If this decision is not reversed then I for one will make every effort to avoid shopping at Tesco and will instruct my family, relatives and the many thousands of Christians to boycott Tesco stores. Complying with GLBTQ biased employment legislation is one thing, aligning your public brand with sexual perversion is illogical, unless you have a personal agenda.
I await your response.
Your sincerely
